Out on EM Records (based in Japan), Juu, G. Jee and Chinza DOPENESS update the 1960-70s popular Thai ‘Luk Thung’ genre with 21st Century hip hop and trap, drum machines and samples. Fresh and exciting! The ‘New Luk Thung’ album is available via Spotify and Bandcamp.
Fever Ray (Swedish singer-songwriter and record producer Karin Dreijer) has remixed Björk, Björk has remixed Fever Ray, and The Knife (Karin and xer brother Olof Dreijer) have remixed Björk. So much good music but I had to pick The Knife — they where my jam 2006–2010! This original Björk track comes from album Utopia, from which the previous SOTD Tabula Rasa also comes from. The three remixes will be officially released together by One Little Indian Records on 1st November 2019.
Kutcha Butcha is the solo project of (four times Mercury nominee, and Polar Bear collaborator) Sebastian Rochford, where Seb writes/performs/produces/mixes everything himself. From the album NDYA, the first of four limited edition releases that Seb has planned for 2019 (the first on CD, the second being a download, the third on cassette and the fourth on vinyl). Out on (Seb’s own?) aptly named Half Baked Bread Records (because “Kutcha Butcha” literally means Half Baked Bread), NDYA is available from Bandcamp.
