Moon Diagrams is the solo recording project of Deerhunter co-founder and drummer Moses John Archuleta. The track ‘Trappy Bats’ was largely recorded in a single night as a means to process the intense intersection of Archuleta’s social, political, and personal hysteria. The ‘Trappy Bats’ EP was released last August on the Sonic Cathedral label, and features this reworking by Detroit based producer Zachary Shigeto Saginaw (Shigeto).
Jean Guérin is a French explorative classical avant-garde and jazz drummer, and founder member of the heavy-acid jazzy collective Ergo Sum. Jean’s ‘Tacet’ album (from Latin for “to be quiet” or “non engaging”) is the result of his movie soundtrack work. ‘Tacet’ would be later reworked as the soundtrack of Claude Faraldo’s eccentric 1971 film “Bof… Anatomie d’un livreur”. The original ‘Tacet’ album was released on Futura Records.
Manos Tsangaris is a German composer, drummer and visual artist, born 1956 in Düsseldorf. And after 30 years, the Nonplace label re-released Tsangaris’ maxi single “Elephant’s Easy Moonwalk Through The Night”, together with a new B side, created especially for this purpose in 2017.
Aïsha Devi (previous #SOTD ‘Inner State Of Alchemy’ here) is a Swiss-born, Tibetan/Nepalese producer, also known under her Kate Wax moniker and for co-founding the Danse Noire label. While Equiknoxx are a Jamaican music collective, comprised Shanique Marie & Gavsborg (who add vocals to the remix), plus Time Cow, Kemikal, and Bobby Blackbird. This collaboration is from the ‘S.L.F. Versions’ EP, a set of cutting-edge radical reworks from Aïsha Devi’s widely-praised 2019 ‘S.L.F.’ EP. Both the original and rework EPs are out on the London-based Houndstooth label.
USA born (Hampton, Virginia), now Berlin-based producer Adam Longman Parker released his first full-length LP ‘Colored’ last year under the artist name Afriqua. The album “is a celebration of the unifying power of Black culture through the prism of electronic music”. Released on R & S Records.
Lionmilk (aka Moki Kawaguchi) is a jazz pianist, composer, and producer from Los Angeles, who combines elements of oddball tropicalia, bossa jazz, blistering metal doom-scapes and melancholy stoner rock. Taken from the upcoming release Visions in Paraíso, the first of three albums underway from the collaboration of Lionmilk and Leaving Records. Available to pre-order on Bandcamp, and a great back catalogue on SoundCloud.
