New album ‘Illusion of Time’ out today! Debut full-length collaboration between Daniel Avery (English electronic music producer and DJ from Bournemouth) and Nine Inch Nails synth artist Alessandro Cortini. The project began with Avery and Cortini worked remotely before the pair had even met, and was finally completed while both artists were touring with Nine Inch Nails in 2018. Released on Erol Alkan’s London-based Phantasy Sound. Previous Daniel Avery #SOTD: Sensation.
Million Square are a London based, electronic duo featuring Max Luthert and Duncan Eagles, who enjoy blending the sounds of electronic and acoustic instruments. This track is the first single from upcoming, self-released‘Spirit Bloom’ EP.

Nick Budd, AKA Buddy Peace, is an English hip-hop producer and DJ from London. Back in 2014, he self-released a Miles Davis ‘ultramix’. The project required disassembled every single track on both Miles Davis’ ‘Bitches Brew’ and ‘On the Corner Sessions’ albums, and then reassembled the 4200 chops samples into 2 x 30 minute productions. This track comes from the ‘On the Corner Sessions’ megamix entitled ‘Ten Horn Core’. The ‘Bitches Brew’ megamix was called ‘Sons Of Bitches’.
Ahmed El Ghazoly is ZULI (aka Swag Lee), an Egyptian multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ based in Cairo. ZULI’s previous ‘Terminal’(released Lee Gamble’s London-based UIQ label, and featuring previous #SOTD: Kollu I-Joloud) was one of my favourite 2018 albums. This track comes from ZULI’s new ‘Swag Lee is Dead [RIP]’ release; a collection of Trap instrumental-demos for a mixtape Ahmed was intending to release around January 2019 before his “shit was stolen” and the project files were lost.
I think there is a connection between Ssaladd and Slugabed (aka Greg Feldwick), but I’m not too sure what. According to Bandcamp, Ssaladd is bassist Harrison, drummer Toby, and Gregory “Fendering The Rhodes”. Perhaps this is Gregory Feldwick? Anyways, the new ‘Ssaladd EP’ has been released on Feldwick’s on London-based Activia Benz label.
Tim Clay and James Rapson are Lung Dart. Their music is centred around ideas of memory, and spans the realms of live instrumentation, sample-based productions, experimental music and pop. They have released a mini album, two EPs, and a mixtape alongside commissioned scoring work which has been shown at Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Barbican Centre, BFI London Film Festival, Somerset House, Berlin Film Festival and many others. This song comes from Lung Dart’s 2016 EP ‘As I Lay Drying’, released on London-based PRAH Recordings. Lung Dart’s new album ‘Slouching Towards Meridian’ also came on PRAH back in November 2019.
Tahira is a Brazilian with a 20 year career as a DJ, music producer and vinyl digger, as well as being the founder of his own Netlabel EBS Diggin (which promotes contemporary sounds taken from the Brazilian underground music scene). But this tropical reworking was released on London-based Wah Wah 45s label.
Penya are 4 piece percussion driven electronic quartet led by producer and multi-instrumentalist Magnus PI (previous #SOTD here: Why So Angry (Edit)). And Msafiri Zawose is a prominent contemporary Gogo musicians, a style music which relies heavily on the zeze and ilimba in combination with distinct lyrical harmonies. Another great release for On The Corner Records.
‘Ema by the Sea’ is Joseph Carvell’s debut album under his Pink Shabab moniker. Joseph is a bass player and singer/songwriter from London, and bassist of indie pop quartet Batsch. The new album is available now on the Berlin-based Karaoke Kalk label.
