Back in May 2018, French DJ Captain XXI released a compilation rare 70’s music; the result of a long work of crate-digging. This track is by Eugen Thomass, a German composer and arranger, primarily of soundtracks and library music. The ‘Hunt Down’ compilation is available on as a limited edition cassette with hand-drawn variant tape.
Aïsha Devi (previous #SOTD ‘Inner State Of Alchemy’ here) is a Swiss-born, Tibetan/Nepalese producer, also known under her Kate Wax moniker and for co-founding the Danse Noire label. While Equiknoxx are a Jamaican music collective, comprised Shanique Marie & Gavsborg (who add vocals to the remix), plus Time Cow, Kemikal, and Bobby Blackbird. This collaboration is from the ‘S.L.F. Versions’ EP, a set of cutting-edge radical reworks from Aïsha Devi’s widely-praised 2019 ‘S.L.F.’ EP. Both the original and rework EPs are out on the London-based Houndstooth label.
From St. Petersburg, Russia, Georgy Kotunov (AKA Long Arm) cites influences such as Bonobo, Amon Tobin, and Dimlite (all previous #SOTDs). Georgy’s latest album ‘Silent Opera’ is “an attempt to describe the states of the human soul. The state of rising and fall, of despair and hope, of humility and expectation of a miracle. The search for peace inside against the background of flowering life around and elusive time”. Out on the Berlin-based label Project Mooncircle, with album artwork by William Barras.
USA born (Hampton, Virginia), now Berlin-based producer Adam Longman Parker released his first full-length LP ‘Colored’ last year under the artist name Afriqua. The album “is a celebration of the unifying power of Black culture through the prism of electronic music”. Released on R & S Records.
Nicolas De Araújo Peixoto is a Berlin DJ and producer Takeleave. Nicolas describes his second full length album ‘Belonging’ as “an allegory of arrival and homesickness, after his first album Inner Sea focused on the journey itself”. Out now on Berlin based label and creative collective Project Mooncircle.
