sir Was is Swedish. I know nothing more. His new ‘Letter EP’ serves as a post-script to his recent second album ‘Holding On To a Dream’. The new ‘Letter EP’ comes out on British indie-label Memphis Industries on 28 February.
Tetsumasa Okumura is a Japanese electronic musician and DJ, based in Berlin. His new ‘On The Way’ EP features the track ‘君の上 (Jump)’, with vocals by another Berlin-based Japanese DJ and producer — Peachonfuse. And this remix comes from a third Japanese DJ, Trackmaker and Painter (this time based in Nagoya): Takahide Higuchi, better known as 食品まつり(Shokuhin Matsuri) a.k.a foodman. Out now on Tetsumasa’s own Berlin-based record label SAIDAN.
Clark (Christopher Stephen Clark) is an English electronic musician, with a career spanning nearly 20 years and 10 albums with Warp Records. This track comes from Clark’s 2019 ‘Kiri Variations’ album, released on his own Throttle Records label.
Mdou Moctar’s previous #SOTD Wiwasharnine was one of my favourite songs of 2019. I just love his unconventional reinterpretation of the Tuareg guitar and Saharan music. Mdou Moctar’s recent releases have been on Sahel SoundsRecords, but this 2012 track comes from a ‘Mdou Moctar Covers EP’ released by BRAINSTORM. This EP featured two reinterpreations of Mdou Moctar’s music by BRAINSTORM, as well as two Mdou Moctar’s covers by Mdou Moctar.
Alexandra Savior McDermott is an American singer-songwriter originally from Portland, Oregon and now based (I think) in Los Angeles, California. ‘Crying All The Time’ was the first song she wrote for her new album ‘The Archer’, a collaboration with producer Sam Cohen.
