From Tokyo, Kota Motomura is a slightly mysterious character. Inspired by Japanese DJ Ken Ishi’s, Kota’s idiosyncratic music won him the Grand prize (Dance Category) in Sound & Recording magazine’s ‘KEN ISHII×MySpace KEN ISHII 15TH ANNIVERSARY Collaboration’ contest (an event for the 15th anniversary of Ken Ishii’s debut). Lionmilk (aka Moki Kawaguchi) is a jazz pianist, composer, and producer from Los Angeles, who combines elements of oddball tropicalia, bossa jazz, blistering metal doom-scapes and melancholy stoner rock. Taken from the upcoming release Visions in Paraíso, the first of three albums underway from the collaboration of Lionmilk and Leaving Records. Los Angeles producer Elusive returns to Dome of Doom with the new album Bonsai Tree. Recordings took place during November and December of last year at Elusive’s home studio in Venice, with features from LA-based musicians Ian Roller (saxophone) and Gabe Steiner (trumpet). The whole album is definitely worth a listen, available on Bandcamp.
Brijean Murphy was one of indie’s most in-demand pop percussionists in 2018, performing for Poolside, Toro Y Moi, and U.S. Girls. Now Brijean collaborates with producer Doug Stuart to record her first album Walkie Talkie, upcoming on their own label Brijean and Dougie Stu Music.
